Learn how to install, configure, and operate the Vyatta Network Operating System (Vyatta NOS) and Orchestrator, which help drive our virtual networking and physical platforms portfolio.

General use of the commit command

An overview of the logic of this command.

Once you have made your changes to the candidate configuration with set and delete commands, and you wish to apply it to replace the running configuration, you need to use the commit command.

However, sometimes the commit command will fail. The system does perform some simple validation checks when you run a set or delete command to modify the candidate configuration — but the system will perform deeper, more complex configuration checks when you run the commit command (or the validate command). These deeper checks may return an error that prevents the completion of the commit operation. In that case, you will need to troubleshoot the changes you've made to find and fix the problem.
