Introduction

The UfiSpace S9500-30XS is a disaggregated cell site gateway router. Its open design makes it well suited to serve as a flexible whitebox solution in a wide range of applications.

The UfiSpace S9500-30XS is a high-performance, versatile whitebox router. It is designed to address the changing needs of backhaul transport requirements as the telecoms industry migrates from legacy technologies to 5G RAN. It is future-proofed with high-speed interfaces and density, timing features, QoS capabilities and a powerful processor to accommodate the evolving timing requirements as we move towards 5G.

For access data aggregation, it supports a wide range of speeds on the client side. These include:

  • 100M/1G for legacy baseband unit systems

  • 10G/25G for next generation 5G baseband unit systems

  • backhaul speeds up to 100G

The S9500-30XS enables telecoms companies to deploy disaggregated open network infrastructure — which helps to lower costs and to rapidly scale existing services for edge computing, mobile backhaul, and broadband access applications. It is an open network white box solution that can support open standard NOS applications for flexibility in management, orchestration and feature expansions.

Also, the S9500-30XS is designed for outside plant cell site backhaul installation. It meets TP76200 GR-3108 Class2 OSP (NEBS Level 3) and has hot-swappable power supplies and fan modules for easier and cheaper maintenance.

Vyatta NOS

Benefits of using Vyatta NOS on this platform include:

  • Separation of software and hardware, so that each can be upgraded independently, in contrast to devices from traditional network vendors.

  • Use of whitebox switches/routers allows cost optimizations and, in some cases, open designs for a competitive marketplace.

  • A high performance, low cost solution with a range of functions that you can easily integrate into existing or new use cases in the network.
