Configuration modes

The following table describes the configuration mode types used with MSDP.

Table 1. Configuration mode types

Mode Type

Description

Standard mode

When a parameter is applied to a group, it is applied identically to all peers in the group.

When a parameter has not been configured for a single peer, the parameter is defined by the parameter that is defined for the group.

Peer mode

A parameter that is configured for a peer takes precedence over a parameter that is configured for the peer group to which the peer belongs. For example, if the keepalive interval parameter has been configured for 60 seconds on a peer and 70 seconds for the group to which it belongs, then the parameter of 60 seconds applies to that peer.
