Vyatta documentation

Learn how to install, configure, and operate the Vyatta Network Operating System (Vyatta NOS) and Orchestrator, which help drive our virtual networking and physical platforms portfolio.

About this guide

This guide describes how to install and upgrade Vyatta NOS on VMware systems.

Note: In this guide the term router is used when referring to a vRouter, router, or virtual router.
Like other virtualization platforms, VMware provides the ability to run multiple virtual systems on a single hardware platform. VMware ESX and VMware ESXi are virtualization platforms that run directly on system hardware in a 64-bit environment.
  • We provide a pre-built VMware template that you can use to create vRouter virtual machines on either of these platforms.
  • We provide an ISO image that you can install on either of these platforms.
  • You can also run vRouter in an OpenStack cloud with VMware vSphere as the hypervisor.
