Upgrading an ISO-installed system

The ISO preparation of the vRouter has modifications and optimizations intended, in general, for virtual environments. On an ISO-installed system, use add system image to upgrade.

add system image uses a vRouter ISO file as the image source. It installs the image with existing images and sets the new image as the default boot image. The new image is run the next time the system is rebooted.

To prepare for the upgrade, determine the location of the vRouter ISO file and record the name of the file.

To upgrade the ISO:

  1. Enter add system image. Use the location and name of the vRouter ISO file as arguments in the command, as shown in Sample session: "add system image".
  2. Before you reboot, confirm that the new image is loaded and ready to run the next time the system is rebooted.
Enter show system image; see the relevant example in Sample session: "add system image".
  3. Reboot the system by entering reboot.
The system restarts with the new system image.
