Basic VRRP version 3 IPv4 configuration

Introducing the examples that show you how to configure the master system and the backup system to use VRRP version 3 with IPv4.

The example sequences set up a basic VRRP version 3 IPv4 configuration between two vRouter.

In VRRP, consider the following behavior.

  • The system that is configured with the highest priority initially will be the master router. If more than one system has the highest priority, then the system with the highest IP address will be the master router.
  • If enabled, preemption allows a higher-priority neighbor to preempt the current master and become master itself.

The samples in this section create the configuration shown at VRRP sample configuration.
