Set up PXE boot for your device

How to configure PXE boot for your router.

Check your platform vendor (physical or virtual) for instructions on how to enable PXE boot. After PXE boot is enabled, you will be able to boot the router remotely over the network.

The following example shows how to use PXE boot with KVM by using virt-manager, the KVM GUI. You can perform the same tasks with the KVM shell commands (virsh).

  1. Start the UI process to create a new virtual machine.
  2. Enter a name for the Vyatta NOS instance, and select Network Boot (PXE).
  3. Select Linux and Debian 10.
  4. Specify the number of CPUs and RAM.
  5. Configure the hard disk space.
  6. Connect the NIC to the same network as the DHCP server.
The DHCP server must be connected for the PXE boot process to start.
  7. Begin the installation and notice that the process starts with NIC configuration.
After the boot process is complete, finish the installation as if you were installing from a directly connected device. If you have configured a custom installation with auto-config, verify that the configuration loaded as expected.
