Install certificate and keys for IPsec support (Windows 10 client)

You will need:
  • A private key file
  • A public key file
  • A root CA certificate file for the public key
Note: The example screenshots in this task are based on the process for the private key — but the process is similar for the public key and root certificate.
  1. Copy the certificate and key files to the Windows client device.
  2. Right-click on the key file and select Install PFX.
  3. The installation wizard requires privilege escalation. When it prompts you, provide Administrator credentials.
  4. For a private key, when the wizard prompts you, provide the password for the key.
  5. If you have a PKCS#12 certificate, then this includes a self-signed root CA certificate. Be sure to select the Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate option, to move the root CA certificate to the correct store.
  6. Complete all steps in the wizard and check that it confirms that the import is successful.
  7. Repeat this task for each key and certificate.
