Vyatta documentation

Learn how to install, configure, and operate the Vyatta Network Operating System (Vyatta NOS) and Orchestrator, which help drive our virtual networking and physical platforms portfolio.

Azure hardware support

Vyatta NOS will run on most of the offered Azure machines that Microsoft offers. The one hard requirement is that the chosen Azure machine must have support for SSE3.

The F series has been tested, and we note that the Fv2 VMs are currently being recommended by Microsoft as they are both the cheapest and fastest option. We believe that the 8 vCPU option will give the fastest performance for a two interface device. For the target environment, CPU clock speed will have a direct effect on packet throughput and that should be a strong consideration when considering the machine types.

For details of the F and Fv2 series, see the Microsoft documentation.
