drop-precedence <colour>

drop-precedence <colour>

An indicator that the WRED algorithm uses to determine which group of WRED parameters it will use to process packets. This is only applicable where you have configured ingress maps.

Vyatta NOS uses drop precedence to select a group of WRED parameters for the WRED algorithm. This determines whether or not the system will drop a given packet to satisfy queue length limits. The <colour> value must be one of:

  • Red
  • Yellow
  • Green

Typically, we configure WRED algorithm profiles such that these values dictate the likelihood that the system will drop packets, in descending order:

  • Red: Most likely
  • Yellow: Somewhat likely
  • Green: Least likely
